Every Approved Breeder Promises to Uphold the Following Standards

Breeder Background

1. Maintain an established partnership with a licensed veterinarian and follow a strict Veterinary Care Program (VCP).

2. Possess a minimum of 1.5 years of verified breeding experience and at least two successfully raised litters.

3. Remain compliant with all local, state, and federal animal-licensing and welfare regulations.

Care, Health, and Well-Being

4. Ensure all dogs have continuous access to fresh water and nutritious, veterinarian-approved food.

5. Provide meals suited to each dog’s breed, size, and age, served at proper feeding intervals.

6. Review and approve all diet or routine changes with a licensed veterinarian.

7. Provide daily social interaction beyond routine care to support emotional well-being.

8. Guarantee daily exercise and playtime through outdoor runs or vet-approved activity plans.

9. Maintain a documented veterinary exercise plan outlining safe, healthy activity levels.

10. Include safe enrichment features (toys, ramps, ponds, etc.) in all living and exercise areas.

11. Perform health screenings to ensure all breeding dogs are free from genetic disorders.

12. Maintain a written Pet Veterinary Care (PVC) plan certified by a veterinarian.

13. Follow all parasite control, vaccination, and disease prevention guidelines.

14. Provide regular grooming and bathing for all dogs.

15. Maintain quarantine areas to isolate and treat contagious animals safely.

16. Carefully select parent dogs based on health, temperament, and genetic soundness.

17. Keep all facilities clean, safe, and comfortable.

18. Provide consistent enrichment and play to promote behavioral health.

19. Breed females only after reaching full maturity and receiving veterinary clearance.

20. Never breed beyond safe reproductive age or against veterinary advice.

26. Maintain an emergency and disaster response plan for safe animal evacuation.

27. Keep humidity and temperature within safe, breed-appropriate ranges.

28. Provide outdoor kennels with shade, shelter, and weather protection.

29. Ensure kennels have full utility services including clean water and waste disposal.

30. Clean and sanitize all facilities daily under veterinary guidance.

31. Avoid uncoated wire flooring in any kennel.

32. Clean kennels at least once daily.

33. Maintain stress-free, separate whelping/nursing areas.

34. Ensure puppies have ample space to move and play with their littermates.

35. Clean whelping areas more frequently to maintain hygiene.

Adoption Standards

36. Keep puppies as long as necessary to ensure proper placement in the right homes.

37. Never allow adoption before puppies reach at least eight weeks of age.

38. Provide accurate, transparent information about each puppy’s breed and temperament.

39. Screen all prospective families thoroughly to ensure safe, loving homes.

40. Disclose all known health conditions before adoption.

43. Never sell or adopt to unscreened or unverified buyers.
